Healing from Zionism
Come as you are. This is a supportive container for people carrying the grief and moral injury of political situations — in their families, their communities, and their own sense of self.
Maybe you've stopped going to your religious community.
Maybe you can't make it through family gatherings without leaving the table.
Maybe you've lost friendships, distanced from family, or quietly stepped away from communities that once felt like home.
Maybe you're carrying a grief that doesn't have a name in your world — because the people around you don't see it as grief at all.
You are mourning something real: the loss of belonging, the fracture of identity, the painful process of untangling what you were handed from what you actually believe. You may be exhausted from being the one who sees clearly in a room full of people who don't. You may be angry, or numb, or both.
This is moral injury. It is a recognized form of psychological and spiritual harm — and it is exactly what happens when the values you hold most sacred are violated by the community, ideology, or institution you were taught to trust.
You don't have to keep carrying this alone.

Group Journey (coming soon)
A small, carefully held five-session group process for Jewish people ready to move through this grief in community. Drawing on grief work, somatic practice, Jewish ritual, and the latest research on moral injury and political grief, this journey is designed to help you move from fragmentation toward wholeness — and from private pain toward collective capacity.

Who This Work is For
This work is for you if:
You are grappling with political or moral injury — particularly related to US imperialism and Zionism — in your family, your community, or your own history.
You have experienced rupture — loss of relationships, community, employment, or a sense of home — as a result of speaking your values or simply seeing clearly.
You are tired of white-knuckling through holidays, family gatherings, or community spaces that ask you to leave your conscience at the door.
You want more than information or debate. You want to actually move through this — to grieve what needs to be grieved, and to come out the other side with more capacity, not less.
You don't need to be at the end of your journey. You just need to be ready to begin.
About Alison Avigayil
I am a rabbinical student, certified coach, and grief practitioner specializing in political grief. I have over two decades of experience in human rights work focused on American and Jewish relationships to Israel and Palestine. I am the founder of the Social Change Sanctuary, an interfaith community focused on political and the creator of Hodaya: A Journal of Grief & Gratitude.
I have walked this road myself — losing relationships, community, and professional opportunities as a result of seeing Zionism clearly and refusing to stay silent. I know what it costs. I also know what becomes possible on the other side.
My work draws on Jewish tradition, contemporary grief theory, somatic and behavioral approaches, and the emerging research on moral injury and political grief. I bring all of it — the scholarly, the spiritual, and the deeply personal — into the container I hold for others.
This is my work to do. I am honored to do it alongside you.
